Do Eyes Grow?

Babies are born with eyes two-third the size in adults. They are 16.5 mm in length as compared to 24 mm in adults. Our eyes undergo multiple changes throughout our lifetime. They grow rapidly during infancy and puberty.

By the age of 20-21, people’s eyes stop growing in length. However, the lens continues to increase by weight all along with our lives.

Around the age of 40, our eyes begin to lose the capacity to focus. This condition is known as presbyopia. The degree of presbyopia differs from person to person. Our eyes tend to dry-out with age due to age-related conditions. The probability of developing an eye problem is more if you have a certain medical condition or chronic health issues or family history.
