Delhi Government to reimburse the tuition fees for minority category students studying in private schools

On May 12, the Delhi Government gave a direct order to all the private schools of Delhi in which they have asked the private schools to return the tuition fees for all the students of classes 1-12 belonging to minority communities.

This order was taken by the Delhi Government after they faced a delay in payment of fees to beneficiary students with a high number of pending cases at the school level. All the private schools have been asked to implement this order for the academic years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.

Under the ‘Reimbursement of Tuition Fees for Minorities categories students studying in classes I to XII’, the minority families whose children are studying in private schools and have an annual income below 3 lakhs will be reimbursed by the end of this year but under this scheme the condition of reimbursement was that the student must have marks above 50% and attendance of at least 70%. If a student fits this criteria the maximum money covered for a single student will be 48 thousand.

Under the guidelines of the scheme, tuition fees of the minority students will be paid by the Delhi government. To complete the process schools were asked to ensure the completion of the online verification of all such applications on the e-district portal. The responsible authority in the Revenue Department has informed that they will not release any payment to the bank account of students of the schools which fail to submit the desired certificate.
