Covid cases in Delhi NCR spike : Schools to be extra cautious

After a few schools in Delhi NCR were suspended due to the spread of covid-19 in the recent days, schools have started taking various safety measures frequently. To avoid the shutting down of schools, they have started frequent sanitisation of every classroom, asking parents to not send their kids to school if they are even a little sick, closing down of respective classrooms if any cases were found there, etc.

Shubhi Soni, Head, The Shri Ram Wonder Years, Rohini, said “We must not wait for the situation to get worse and strict protocols should be enforced in full swing without any delay to control the situation,” Soni said. She said the parent community will panic if their child’s health is affected.” She also emphasized on how the students' education has been already backtracked a lot during the last few years of online education and that can't happen anymore. Since the corona virus is not going anywhere, the only logical thing to do instead of shutting down schools would be to have offline school for three days and for the remaining two days the school should continue online.

Alka Kapur, principal, Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh said “all the students and entire staff must wear face masks and follow regulations given by the schools and government. We should encourage them for regular washing of hands and there must be at least one bottle of sanitiser in every student. With all these precautions, we can circumvent the potential threats.”

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on saturday talked about the rising of covid cases in recent times and assured the public that even though the cases might be rising but the hospitalization is low.

The positivity rate of coronavirus was 5.33 percent and the number of covid cases took a 26 percent jump on Saturday.
