The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) organized a protest at the Ministry of Education on Friday requesting the cancellation of class 12 board Examinations considering the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The student wing of the Congress party said in a statement at the protestors wore PPE units and followed Covid procedures while raising the slogan "'pehle suraksha, phir pariksha' (first safety, then exams)".

The NSUI requested that the government should find an alternative to the exams as India is combating the second wave of Covid infection.

"The government can review the students based on their past performances, assignments or class assessments, yet taking a chance with the lives of these students is an insensitive choice," the NSUI said.

"The lack of planning for the board tests will hurt the academic year of these students. The only answer for saving their academic year is presently to advance them by internal assessments instead of wasting more time discussing about examinations," he said.
