An estimated nine out of 10 parents did not pay their ward’s school fees for the month of April and May in around 53% of schools out of 170 private schools in Delhi.

This step was taken due to the triggered slowdown of the economy by the nationwide lockdown to contain the covid-19 pandemic.

According to reports, 80 out of 170 schools received fees for the month of April, ranging from 1,100 to 5,500, from5-10% of students which went up to 108 in the next month.

Most of the parents expressed difficulty due to dwindling savings, loss in business, cut in salary, and expected the government to waive off fees considering the subsequent lockdown extensions.
