In Hyderabad, the age criteria for Class 1 admissions have been updated in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Ministry of Education has mandated that, starting from the 2024-25 academic session, children must be at least 6 years old to enroll in Class.                                                                                                                                                                        This change has confused parents and schools in Telangana. While the central government says that the 6-year minimum age must be followed, the Telangana state government has not fully put this rule into practice yet. As a result, some schools in Hyderabad are using the new age rule, but others still allow children aged 5.5 years to enter Class 1.
