In Bangalore, most schools now follow the new two-language policy under the State Education Policy (SEP). This means that in about 90% of schools, students study just two languages; usually English and Kannada or their mother tongue. However, some linguistic minority schools still follow the three-language model, where students might learn English, Kannada, and another language like Hindi or Sanskrit. In short, for most kids in Bangalore, English and Kannada are the main languages, but depending on the school, a third language can still be part of the curriculum.
