Established in 1988 as a Montessori School, followed closely by affiliation to the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, in 1992, Central Modern School emerged in the early 2000s as a premier Higher Secondary English Medium School with its own multi-storey building and assembly hall, housing multifarious activities within the school compound. Central Modern School’s growth under its then Principal and Founder of the school - Mr. Chittajit De, was rapid and ruthless, with stellar academic performances. The school left no stone unturned in its endeavour to impart holistic education, with the students being engaged in various extra-curricular activities like debates, chess, arts and craft, MUNs, dramatics, dancing and all imaginable others throughout the year. Early in the year 2005, Mr. Nabarun De became the Principal of the institution, ushering in a period of astronomical growth for the school. Mr. De became the Convener of his zone, followed by the Secretary of the ASISC (WB and NE Chapter), Joint Secretary of the ASISC (National), and finally the Member of the General Body and Executive Committee of the CISCE, New Delhi in just a short span of fifteen years from his appointment to office as the Principal of Central Modern School. Under his able leadership, the school flourished with futuristic nuances. In the year 2015, Mr. De re-established the school in a new sprawling five-acre campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. Mr. De was the embodiment of the school motto - ‘Learning for Liberation’, making quality education available at an economical rate giving lower income households the break in opportunities for their family that they deserve. The visionary – Mr. Nabarun De’s untimely demise late in the year 2020 sent shockwaves through the fraternity of educators all around the country. Currently, under the movement spearheaded by the institution’s current principal - Ms. Namrata De, the school is doing its part in the global climate crisis by going solar to address the issues of carbon emission and atmospheric contamination; taking the next step to a greener, cleaner, planet.
