The Goregaon Education Society is a Public Charitable Trust founded by a group of philanthropists of Jawahar Nagar which was established on 19th May 1958 registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act 1950, Registration No. F542 (B). The I. B. Patel Vidyalaya was started in the name of Shri Ishwarbhai B. Patel (Elecon Industries). The school started in Gujarati Medium with 130 students in 1958 under the name of “I. B. Patel Vidyalaya”. With growing strength and further demand, a separate school for girls was started in the year 1960-61 in the name of Shri Byramjee Jeejeebhoy and was named as “Sir B.J. Girls School”. The primary school continued with co-education. A separate building was constructed and was named as “P.Z. Patel Vidyalaya” in the year 1973-74 in the name of Shri. Purshottambhai Z. Patel (Shadhana Soap Industries) to cater to the primary education. The society catered to the needs of local Gujarati community year after year. The first batch of SSC passed out in the year 1962 and over 90% result has been the bench mark of both I. B. Patel Vidyalaya and Sir B. J. Girls School. A separate pre-primary school was started in 1982-83 in the name of Shri Dahyabhai S. Patel and was named as “D. S. Patel Balvatika”. The society had nearly 5000 students but today it caters to the need of around 2500 students in the Gujarati Medium showing a trend of flow towards English Medium.
