Captain Kartiki believe and even proved that optimism is the faith that leads to achievement and nothing can be done without hope and confidence as Captain Kartiki suffered a spinal injury and the lower part of his waist stopped working. Kartiki was forced to use the wheelchair forever.

But there was a pleasant change for Kartiki in 2014 when he came to know about the wheelchair basketball. Kartiki got back to life as a basketball child. Kartiki did not look back again and now he is the captain of India in this game.

Ishrat one of the girl from Jammu and Kashmir also suffered and came across an incident because of which she became dependent on a wheelchair but when she came to know about the team she also joined the team and she is first Kashmiri pandit playing the game on a wheelchair.

The 12 member team is working hard to qualify for Paralympics because there Is a stiff competition between the team from other countries. The Indian team is in a disadvantage due to poor quality of wheelchair and basketball court ground.

Head coach Captain Lewis George says, 'The basic difficulty is that when these players have to return home after attending a month-long coaching camp, they do not get good courts for practice there. Some have to travel up to 30 kilometres.

The Team's doctor Ramya said that these players should be encouraged.
