On Tuesday a teacher in a government-aided school in Kasba tested Positive for Covid, after that the school had to be closed. 28 Students who had attended the classes of the teacher will be sent to a government hospital for a test on Thursday by Kasba Chittaranjan High school.
All the necessary arrangements have been made by the school education department, but the parents of some students want their ward to get tested at different medical labs.
However, in the list teachers are not asked to get tests who need to be tested
Education minister Parth Chatterjee said, “Chairman of DPSC Kartick Manna has instructed to sanitize the campus. Till further orders, the schools will remain closed. Also, he asked school education departments to issue a circular among all schools, asking them to strictly follow the security and safety measures laid down by the government.” A notice has been issued by the school to inform the guardians. Anindya Chatterjee, headmaster of the school also met the parents and teachers on Wednesday.
A school education department official said., “She visited the school last week. That is what we heard. But we are examining the matters as we need to know if the school was following the protocol.”
SOPs have been maintained by the schools, which had been distributed by the State government, after the reopening of physical classes.
A KMC solid waste management department official said.“School premises are sanitized and will repeat this process after two weeks depending on the necessity when the school reopens”
A civic health department official said, “We are looking over the schools and advised them to stay shut for some days to control the expansion among the students. We will also arrange Covid test for the teachers and students who came in contact with the infected teacher.”
