Central Government To NCERT And States: Add Chapters On Citizen Duties In School Books

The Central Government has asked the State Government and NCERT to add chapters on citizen duties in Civics and Political Science books. 

Barun Mitra, Union Secretary Department of Justice shared in a webinar on 'Citizen Duties During COVID-19', "We have requested the NCERT as well as state governments to include chapters in Civics and Political Science books with special emphasis and focus on citizens' duties. The legal affairs department has prepared course modules on the subject."

He added, "Rights flow only from duties well performed. If each one amongst us performs our duty, everybody's rights would be automatically protected." The decision has been taken after noting the gaining significance of public participation in the fight against Corona.
